The voucher process to take the Praxis Core tests has changed.
Instead of you getting a voucher in the mail, ETS (the company) now
allows us to order the vouchers in bulk. This means when we place an
order, instead of you getting vouchers, we will get a bunch of codes to
for you. When you register for the test, you enter the code and you're
set. Jen ordered some codes so they should be in soon.
If you are hoping to student teach this fall, read this message closely. The
deadline for applications is March 9th for preference in placement. If
you have your application in by this date, you will get a placement. Applications get handed in to me so I can review them for you.
If you still have to pass
some, or all, of your Praxis Core tests, that doesn't necessarily mean
you won't be student teaching this fall. The March 9th date is for
preference only. You can still take your tests, and if you pass, you can
still apply for student teaching. If there are classrooms open, you
might still get placed. It's basically a "first come, first placed" type
setting.
You must have taken the three Praxis Core tests, and met the minimum scores, in order to apply for student teaching.
For those of you just starting in the Bachelors program, don't way too long to take these tests. The earlier the better so you can get them done. You should take these tests during your second year.
I will be meeting with all of the Sage scholars (that's you) as a group sometime in the next month and explain the process for those of you who are new. This will also be a good time for you to ask any questions you might have.
