Fall Semester Wrap-Up

We are nearing the end of the fall 2016 semester with only four weeks remaining. For those of you who are new to Project Sage, the grant refers to you as "scholars". It's a Dept of Ed term. 😊

A few things:

• If this is your first semester in the project, make sure you complete the application process. The last part of the application is meeting with me so we can sign the service obligation agreement.
• If this is not your first semester, and you are a returning scholar, make sure you have taken your Praxis Core so we can get you registered for spring. I had posted a reminder on this blog back in September to get this done so don't delay!
• The end of the Sage fiscal year is Dec. 31 so I need to process your student support for fall no later than the next few weeks. If you haven't received your support yet, it's because you still have things to complete in order to be eligible (Sage application for new scholars and Praxis Core test for returning). We really want to award this money so get busy!

ND Fall Educators Conference

The North Dakota Fall Educators Conference you are registered for begins Wednesday, October 12th, with registration from 5 pm - 6:15 pm at the Bismarck Event Center. The keynote speaker will follow with the evening wrapping up at 8:30 pm.

You will be able to attend all of your classes as scheduled on Wednesday, at least until 4 pm, or so.

On Thursday, October 13th, the conference day runs from 8 am - 5:15 pm. You will get an agenda with more information when you sign in at the conference. Your registration has been paid so you should have received a ticket through the EventBrite site.

On Friday, October 14th, concurrent sessions are from 7:30 am - 12:45 pm. The conference concludes after that time.

Represent yourself, your family and UTTC well, as we know you will.  Enjoy and learn lots!

Spring 2017 Registration

A friendly reminder we will not be registering anybody for spring 2017 semester who has not taken their Praxis test. Please get this done as soon as possible so you don't miss any deadlines.

Mark these dates on your calendar. The Project Sage grant will pay your registration to attend. Great topics and a great opportunity!

Checking In

Now that we're into mid-summer, it's important to have your Praxis Core tests scheduled. If you have a voucher, get the test scheduled now. If you don't, you must get a hold of Jen Heid so we can get one ordered for you.

The Finance Office at UTTC is closed for business during the month of June so they can prepare for the end of the fiscal year on June 30. So if you requested a voucher within the month of June, we had to wait until July 1 (Friday) to request payment for your voucher. If you haven't contacted her yet, do so immediately.

You MUST pass all three of the Praxis Core tests before you student teach. Time goes by fast, and sometimes we have to allow for re-takes. So make sure you allow enough time to take and pass the tests before you begin preparing for student teaching.

Fall 2016 Registration

Leah and Lisa are going to be mapping out class schedules for fall on Monday, June 13, for all Project Sage participants. We will be ready to register all returning students after that date so you can get everything in place for fall.

You must pass the Praxis Core tests before you student teach. It is time for everybody to get a voucher and schedule at least one test, if you haven't already done so. If you need a Praxis voucher, be sure to contact Jen Heid as soon as possible.

The Praxis tests are your responsibility. Unfortunately, because of privacy issues, we cannot register you or do anything with your Praxis accounts or setting up tests. Start now!

2016 North Dakota Indian Child Welfare & Wellness Conference

The 15th Annual North Dakota Indian Child Welfare & Wellness Conference is going to be held February 17 - 19, 2016, at the Baymont Inn & Suites (formerly the Seven Seas Motor Inn) north of Mandan, North Dakota. If you are interested in attending, and WILL attend the sessions, please contact Jen Heid about registration. The SAGE grant will pay your registration for you.

The deadline to complete the registration form and give it to Jen Heid is Thursday, Jan. 21, at 5 PM.
